Baden (Lower Austria), May 29, 1880, actor and theatre manager; grandfather of Max Steiner. At first secretary, then manager of the Theater an der Wien: 1869-1875 with M. Geistinger, 1875-1880 on his own. 1880 his son Franz S. took over his function and remained until 1884. Another son, Gabor S., also became a theatre manger and operator of a music hall.
