Schaller, Johann Nepomuk, b. Vienna, March 30, 1777, d. Vienna, Feb. 15, 1842, sculptor, brother of painter Anton S., studied at the Vienna Academy and worked for some time under G. Pisani in Vienna, where he learnt how to work with marble, from 1791 also worked as a moulder for the Vienna Porzellanmanufaktur porcelain makers under A. M. Grassi, 1811 promoted to chief moulder at the Manufaktur, in which function he created a number of porcelain busts of members of the Imperial family, 1812-1823 worked in Rome on a bursary, contacts with A.
