Rasch, JohannRasch, Johann, b. Pöchlarn (Lower Austria), around 1540, d. Vienna, around 1615, writer, organist at the Vienna Schottenstift monastery, mathematician, bookseller. In his writings, a rich source of Austrian dialect and folklore, he was mainly concerned with phenomena of his time (astrology, pseudoprophetism, etc.), his "Weinbuch" (1582) is a didactic poem on viticulture in Lower Austria. Further works: Nininiter Klag, 1578; Fasten Reim, 1583; Fasten-Lob, 1585.
