Rasch, Johann


Rasch, Johann, b. Pöchlarn (Lower Austria), around 1540, d. Vienna, around 1615, writer, organist at the Vienna Schottenstift monastery, mathematician, bookseller. In his writings, a rich source of Austrian dialect and folklore, he was mainly concerned with phenomena of his time (astrology, pseudoprophetism, etc.), his "Weinbuch" (1582) is a didactic poem on viticulture in Lower Austria.
