Neuwirth, Olga


Neuwirth, Olga, b. Graz, Styria, Aug. 4, 1968, composer, niece of Gösta (see)Neuwirth. Studied composition in San Francisco, then at the Vienna University of Music and in Paris. Combines in her works electronic, instrumental and vocal elements and derives her inspiration from modern literature (cooperation with, among others, E. Jelinek). EU Composition Award in 1996.


Werke: Der Wald - ein tönendes Fastfoodgericht, 1991 (mini opera after E. Jelinek); Körperl. Veränderungen, 1991 (after a radio play by E. Jelinek); Lonicera Caprifolium, 1993; Punch und Judy, 1994 (radio play after H. C. Artmann); Todesraten, 1997 (radio play after E. Jelinek); Hommage à K. Nomi, 1998.
