Meinong, Alexius, Ritter* von Handschuchsheim, b. Lvív, Ukraine (then Lemberg), July 17, 1853, d. Graz (Styria), Nov. 27, 1920, philosopher. 1882 professor at the University in Graz, in 1894 established the first laboratory of experimental psychology in Graz. Founder of the theory of objects, which became the starting point for Gestalt psychology and strongly influenced phenomenology.
