Mayreder, Kraus & Co Bauholdingges. m. b. H., Linz-based building firm, founded in 1870, originated in the company founded by Peter Kraus in 1870, taken over by the ALPINE Bau Ges.m.b.H. after financial problems in 1997. The firm carries out all kinds of construction work, drafts designs and develops building sites in Austria and abroad. Employees(1997): 2,154; Turnover (1997): 3.6 billion ATS.

Rudolf Mayreder (1864-1937), who became the partner of P. Kraus in 1907, decisively influenced the development of the firm. Together with other companies, the Mayreder, Kraus&Co Bauholdingges. m. b. H. contributed to the extension of the Vienna traffic systems, the regulation of the River Wien, the installation of a sewage system, the construction of the second water-supply pipeline in Vienna, the regulation of the River Danube, the extension of the railway network and the design and introduction of steel concrete bridges. From 1945 the company had a leading role in the construction of tunnels, highways, power plants and subway lines. From 1990 also major projects in the former Communist countries in Central and Eastern Europe (hotels in Prague and Moscow).
