Traffic Safety Board (Kuratorium für Verkehrssicherheit), non-profit organisation with the aim of increasing safety on the roads, during leisure time and in the household, founded in 1959 as a private association. Today its members are the ÖAMTC and ARBÖ (Austrian drivers' organisations) as well as the Allgemeine Unfallversicherungsanstalt (General Accident Insurance Company - AUVA) and private insurance agencies. With its activities in the fields of research, implementation and coordination the Board tries to prevent accidents and to increase safety. Under the aegis of the Board there are institutes for road safety education, traffic psychology, traffic and transport engineering and accident statistics, a section for driving instruction and motor vehicle technology, the "Safe living" Institute and branch offices throughout Austria.
