Krauß, Friedrich SalomonKrauß, Friedrich Salomon, b. Slavonsky Požega (Croatia), Oct. 7, 1859, d. Vienna, May 29, 1938, ethnographer, Slavist and sex researcher. Private scholar, writer and translator in Vienna; often met with hostility and was even persecuted because of his research into sexual behaviour. Belonged to the group around S. Freud. Edited the magazines "Anthropophytheia" (10 vols.) and "Volksmund". Further works: Sitte und Brauch der Südslaven, 1885; Slavische Volksforschungen, 1908; Das Geschlechtsleben des japanischen Volkes, 31931. Literature: R. L. Burt, F. S. K., 1990; W. Jacobeit et al.
