From 1811 lived in Vienna, where he mostly produced genre paintings; in his nature paintings he combined elements of realism and romanticism. From 1819 in Italy, from 1839 in Munich. Honorary member of the Wiener Künstlerhaus association of painters, sculptors and architects.
