Kamitz, Reinhard, b. Meziměstí, Czech Republic (then Halbstadt), June 18, 1907, d. Vienna, Aug. 9, 1993, economist and politician (Austrian People's Party, ÖVP). 1952-1960 Minister of Finance, 1960-1968 president of the Austrian National Bank. Regarded as the father of the famous financial policy called "Raab-Kamitz-Kurs", which laid the foundation for the Austrian economic miracle. His achievements included the liberalisation of economic policy, the adoption of a hard-currency policy and the reduction of direct income taxation.
