Nuremberg (Germany, executed), Oct. 15, 1946, lawyer, Nationalist-Socialist politician, high-ranking SS officer. Arrested in 1934 as a leading activist of the illegal Nationalist-Socialist German Workers' Party (NSDAP) and released in 1935, he took over leadership of the SS in Austria, which was then illegal, from March 11, 1938 Staatssekretär for security in Austria, 1938 leader of the SS sector "Danube", 1943-1945 head of the Reich security central office. Sentenced to death in the Nuremberg trials for joint responsibility for the atrocities carried out by the SS and the genocide against the Jews. Literature: P. Black, E. K., 1991; ÖBL; NDB.
