Vienna, Oct. 26, 1817, botanist, physician; father of Baron Joseph Franz von Jacquin. Lived in Vienna from 1752, 1768 university professor; founder of the Botanical Garden and the botany school in Vienna. On study tours in western India he collected plants for Austrian museums and gardens, introduced the Linnaean system of classification in Austria.
