Vienna, Oct. 12, 1974, lawyer and politician (Austrian People's Party, ÖVP). 1936-1938 member of the government of Carinthia, 1938-1939 and 1944-1945 concentration camp imprisonment, 1945 co-founder and (1945-1951) secretary-general of the ÖVP, 1945-1966 member of parliament, 1953-1959 First President of the Nationalrat, 1945-1952 Federal Minister of Education.
