Honner, Franz, b. Kovárov, Czech Republic (then Heinrichsöd), Sept. 4, 1893, d. Vienna, Feb. 10, 1964, politician (Austrian Communist Party, KPÖ). From 1927 in the Central Committee, 1936 interned in Wöllersdorf, escaped to Moscow, 1937/1938 fought in Spain, then went back to Moscow. 1944/1945 trained Austrian battalions in the Yugoslavian partisan army. 1945 Staatssekretär in the Renner administration, 1945-1959 member of the Nationalrat, 1946-1964 member of the Central Committee and the politbureau of the KPÖ. Dealt mainly with trade union issues.
