Holtzer Holczer, Holzer, WolfgangHoltzer (Holczer, Holzer), Wolfgang, d. Vienna, April 15, 1463 (executed), Mayor of Vienna. Possibly from Stein an der Donau or Bratislava, a rich cattle dealer, there is evidence that he was in Vienna in 1443, 1454-1462 mintmaster, in 1462 appointed Mayor of Vienna. For his support of Duke Albrecht VI; in Oct. led the siege of Friedrich III in the Imperial Palace. Later wanted to change sides and support the emperor, but Albrecht VI had him executed in a cruel manner. Literature: K.
