Hatzfeld, Carl Friedrich, Graf zu Gleichen


Hatzfeld, Carl Friedrich, Count of Gleichen, b. Vienna, Sept. 14, 1718, d. Sept. 5, 1793, statesman. Originally a canon in Mainz, 1737 entered into the service of the emperor, 1761 president of the Ministerial-Bancodeputation, 1765 president of the court chamber, 1771 the highest chancellor of the Bohemian-Austrian Hofkanzlei (central judiciary and highest court) and leading minister. Under Joseph II (1790) and Leopold II Minister of Internal Affairs in the Staatsrat (joint legislative and administrative body).
