Trade, Ministry of: created in 1848, mainly concerned with economic affairs. Its name has changed several times: until 1860 "Ministry of Trade and Public Works", 1861-1867 "of Trade and Political Economy", 1918/19 "State Office for Commerce, Industry and Trade, Wartime and Transitional Economy" (Handel und Staatsamt für Kriegs- und Übergangswirtschaft), 1919-1920 "of Commerce and Trade, Industry and Building", 1920-1923 "Federal Ministry of Commerce and Trade, Industry and Building". 1923-1938 it was combined with the Ministry of Transport to form the "Federal Ministry of Trade and Transport", 1945 it was called "State Office of Industry, Trade, Commerce and Transport", 1945-1966 "Federal Ministry of Trade and Reconstruction", 1966-1987 "Federal Ministry of Commerce, Trade and Industry". 1987 combined with the Federal Ministry of Building and Technology to form the "Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs" Economic Affairs, Ministry of.
