Hagengebirge Mountains, karstic massif in the Salzburg limestone Alps, part of the Berchtesgaden Alps, between River Salzach and Lake Königssee (Bavaria), reaches heights of 2,362 m in the Großes Teufelshorn and 2,350 m in the Kahlersberg; connected to the Steinernes Meer plateau via the Teufelshörner, separated from the Tennengebirge mountain range in the east by the Salzachtal valley. Its western range forms the border between Austria and Germany. Accessible via Werfen and Golling. Bärenloch cave at the Bluntau waterfalls. Caves: Jägerbrunntrog cave system, Tantalhöhle, Zentrumshöhle, Scheukofen. Large population of chamois and ibex.
