Geyling, Remigius© Copyright Remigius Geyling, sketch of a costume Geyling, Remigius, b. Vienna, June 29, 1878, d. Vienna, March 4, 1974, painter and stage designer; son of the painter of historical scenes Rudolf G. (1839-1904), great-nephew of Carl Geyling. 1909-1911 and 1922-1945 director of décor and costumes at the Vienna Burgtheater and inventor of stage projection (used for the first time in 1925 in "Peer Gynt" at the Burgtheater). Also created designs for the family-owned glass painting workshop around 1920, founding member of the Österreichischer Werkbund and from 1926-1946 professor at the Vienna School of Arts and Crafts.
