University professor in Czernowitz, Innsbruck and Vienna, famous for the Gegenbauer polynomials; important developments in the theory of numbers, algebra and theory of functions. Works: Einige Sätze über Determinanten hohen Ranges, 1890; Über den größten gemeinsamen Theiler, 1892.
