Exulanten

Exulanten (exiles, expellees), Protestants who were expelled from Austrian lands between the 16th and 18th centuries, and found a new home in Germany. The most significant group of exiles were the Salzburg Exulanten in 1731/32, who settled in East Prussia. In 1684 the Deferegger Exulanten were expelled from East Tirol, in 1685/86 Lutheran followers from Dürrnberg (Bad Dürrnberg). There were also many exiles from what are today Upper Austria and Lower Austria.
