Europäische Integration

European Integration, the increasing bilateral and multilateral interaction and interdependence of the countries of Europe as it occurs in actual fact and has been enshrined in treaties and other arrangements. Among the most important institutions of European integration are the European Union, the Council of Europe, the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe, the European Free Trade Association, the European Economic Area and others. By acceding to the European Union Austria has demonstrated its determination to participate increasingly in the process of European integration.
