Erzberg, Steiermark - Esterházy, Paul II. Anton Fürst (18/25)
Eßling Esterházy, Magnatenfamilie

Este, Adelsfamilie

Este, noble family. The name derives from the town of E. in Veneto. 1771 Ferdinand Karl, son of Maria Theresia, married Maria Beatrix of Modena, who was to inherit her family estates. Ferdinand Karl's grandson Franz V died childless in 1875. Archduke Franz Ferdinand inherited his fortune and added "Österreich-Este" to his name. After he was murdered in 1914, his fortune and his title fell to Karl, successor to the throne, who passed both on to his second son Robert (b. Feb. 8, 1915) in 1917 after his accession. Robert continued to use the name "Österreich-Este"..
