Doppelbauer, Franz Maria, b. Waizenkirchen (Upper Austria), Jan. 21, 1845, d. Linz (Upper Austria), Dec. 2, 1908. Bishop of Linz (1889), where he founded the Catholic Teachers' Seminary in 1891 and the "Petrinum" seminary for boys in 1895; also headed the extension of the New Cathedral and the "Pressevereinshaus" (press association building) in Linz. D. promoted the formation of Catholic organisations.
