DopingDoping, the use of prohibited ergotropic substances (stimulants, narcotics, anabolic steroids, beta-blockers, etc.) and methods in sports, or overdosing of substances subject to certain restrictions (alcohol, marijuana, etc.); prohibited for health, ethical and legal reasons; in Austria already known before the onset of modern competitive sports (around 1910 in equestrian sports). The Council of EU health ministers passed an act against doping in 1992; Austria´s current regulations on doping were set up in accordance with the International Olympic Committee, international federations, the Council of Europe, etc., their observance in training and competitions has been controlled by the Austrian anti-doping committee since 1994.
