Crophius, Ludwig, Edler von Kaisersieg, b. Graz (Styria), Sept. 14, 1792, d. Graz (Styria), April 24, 1861, Cistercian, Abbot of Rein Abbey (1823-1861). Close friend and companion of Archduke Johann, held several theological, academic and public offices, professor in Salzburg and Graz, curator of the Joanneum, an educational institution for the Estates, supervisor of higher technical schools and member of the prelate estate in the regional parliament of Styria for more than 30 years.
