Canevale, IsidoreCanevale, Isidore, b. Vincennes (France), 1730, d. Vienna, Nov. 2, 1786, architect. Became court architect in 1776 under Emperor Joseph II, for whom he renovated the General Hospital and built the Narrenturm tower, the Josephsstöckl (Kaiser Joseph Pavilion) in the Augarten park (1780-1783), the Josephinum (military surgical institute), and the Lusthaus in the Prater park. He also worked for Cardinal C. A. Migazzi (triumphal arch at Vák, Hungary), the Schönborn family (summer palace in Laudongasse in Vienna) and the Liechtenstein family in Moravia and Silesia.
