Bertoni, WanderBertoni, Wander, b. Codisotto (Italy), Oct. 11, 1925, sculptor, 1943 as a foreign worker was deported to Vienna so that his work could be exploited; 1947 founding member of the Art-Club. Studied at the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts under F. Wotruba. From 1965 professor at the School of Applied Art in Vienna. Initially creating archaic figures, B.´s work grew abstract by degrees until he later developed a symbolic style of figure showing pronounced organic forms. Works: Bewegung, outside the Vienna Stadthalle; Ikarus, Vienna Airport; reliefs in the Vienna State Opera; 2 statues for the Salzburg Festival Hall; works in Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, the USA.
