Workers' Representation: In Austria there is the (Works Council) within a company and the workers' representation outside of a company. Unions as voluntary organisations, and Chambers of Labour as the statutory representation of employees have a wide variety of means of cooperating in legal matters and affairs of company policy.

Trade Unions are organised as nonpartisan, non-denominational unified trade unions in the form of civil-law associations (Austrian Federation of Trade Unions); there is a trade union of salaried employees, while the manual workers' unions are structured by branch of industry; membership is voluntary. The Chambers of Labour have been established as legal representative bodies with mandatory membership and membership fees.
