At that time the upper-class apartments were located on the first floor and the windows looked down on the busy street. The present museum comprises only the livingroom and the study of the former Strauß apartment. The exhibits are personal objects and the harpsichord with its registers. The composer preferred to work during the night and appreciated the gentle sound of the instrument that could hardly be heard in the adjoining rooms.
