The memorial plaque, affixed by the Wiener Schubertbund (Schubert Association) reminds us that the Blue Danube Waltz was composed in this house, where Johann Strauß lived with his first wife on the upper floor.
The text runs as follows:
In this house, in 1867, Johann Strauß wrote the "Viennese anthem", the Blue Danube Waltz. To its honorary member the Waltz King, in commemoration of his 100th birthday, by the Vienna Schubertbund 1925.
