Explanation to the audio- and video formats
Audio Interchange Format
Standard sound format for Apple Computer.
File extension: "AIF" or "AIFF"
RIFF WAV
Standard sound format for MS Windows.
File extension: "WAV"
MPEG Audio Layer-3Sound format with powerful data reduction.File extension: "MP3"
shockwave Flash
Format to deliver graphics, animation and sound.
File extension: "SWF"
MS Video for Windows
File extension: "AVI"
Note: In connection with some graphic charts there may be a colour change in the videos when using special depths of colour (32 k or 64 k), i.e. the background is no longer pure white.
In such cases the toning should be changed.
QuickTime Movie
File extension: "MOV"
Audio CDLink (VCD)
CDLink – a free program from Voyager – allows clientallows client servers to play and to control any normal Audio compact disk in the CD-ROM drive of your computer. A simple text-file (extension .vcd) tells the CD-ROM drive where to beginn playing and where to stop. When using .vcd-files it ist not necessary to load down music sequences -- they can just be played locally directly from the Audio compact disk loaded in your CD-ROM drive played at top quality.
Prerequisites:You need exactly the Audio compact disk used for the music examples in Music-Kolleg. You will find sound source notes at the end of the menue for music examples. Application:
- Insert the audio CD in the CD-ROM disk drive.
- Click on e.g. "Bars 1-10" or "1st movement". The music can be stopped any moment by clicking on "stop".
