It can be proved that J. Brahms stayed in this house in the centre of Vienna (Singerstraße 7, 1st district) between 1863 and 1865. It is the very house in which Mozart had stayed in 1781, on the first floor, and where he was literally kicked out of the Salzburg archi-epicscopal service. This flat, situated close to St.Stephen's Cathedral, offered Brahms a good view of this Viennese landmark.
