On April 3rd 1897 Johannes Brahms died in this room, suffering from cancer of the liver. Mrs Celestine Truxa (1858-1937) was the principal tenant of this apartment. She furnished the 3 rooms of the composer (bedroom, study, music room) mainly with her own furniture.
