Brahms spent the summer months usually in the country, e.g. in Pörtschach (cf. "Österreich-Lexikon"), Preßbaum (cf. "Österreich-Lexikon"), Mürzzuschlag, where the Austrian Brahms Society has its seat, but also in Bad Ischl (cf. "Österreich-Lexikon"). This photography was taken in the winter months of 1892 in Brahms's lodgings at Karlsgasse 4 (the flat does not exist any more), in close vicinity to the Vienna Technical University.
