25 Years Austrian Medical Hotline
Public medical care is one of the most important factors in any modern social system. The geographic distance separating patient and doctor is an associated problem solved 25 years ago through the establishment of a medical hotline in Austria. Such a system guarantees round-the-clock medical care, day or night, on weekends and holidays. This life-saving network was established through the initiative of Dr. Hermann Leitner in cooperation with the State Medical Board of Carinthia in 1968. Today medical assistance via this hotline is guaranteed throughout Austria and is accessible any time through one nation-wide telephone number.
