Austrian Working Environment, 3rd issue
The commemorative stamp shows a chemical lab technician. He represents a typical skilled trade within the division of the Union of Chemical Workers. Among these are employees within the fields of chemistry, papermaking, vulcanology, glassmaking, glass cutting, and synthetic materials processing. The chemical labor union has always concerned itself with employee safety and job and environmental protection. The chemical lab technician represents what is considered a classical skilled trade, which requires four years of training. This profession attracts many young women and mostly leads to steady employment. The chemical workers' field was first added to the academic curriculum in the 1970s and represents a typical male career, since this occupation is carried out mostly in factories and in shifts.
