1,200th Anniversary of Ansfelden
According to the Upper Austrian provincial archives, the earliest mention Ansfelden dates back to 788. In 1680 the parish of Ansfelden was acquired by the St. Florian Monastery, which possessed large holdings in Ansfelden back in 1111 and was allowed to levy two parts of the taxes. The first schoolhouse was built in Ansfelden in 1706 where the world-famous composer Anton Bruckner was born on September 4, 1824. In July 1864 the Free Municipality of Ansfelden was established. Its economic developments were predominantly shaped by agriculture, although at the beginning of this century a rapid upward trend began. Therewith the school in Berg was established in 1902, the school in Ansfelden in 1907, and the former local administrative office in Ansfelden was built in 1914. Post World War II reconstruction again brought Ansfelden an impressive upswing. In its anniversary year 1988, Ansfelden displayed itself both as a modern residential and as a modern industrial municipality with an urban character.
