Walther von der Vogelweide: Under der Linden


Walther von der Vogelweide (around 1170 - around 1230) is considered the most important Minnesänger of his day. The song Under der Linden is included in the Manessische Liederhandschrift (song manuscript)(14. Jh.). According to his own information, Walther studied "singen und sagen" (i.e. singing and writing poetry) in Austria. Ill.: Walther von der Vogelweide in the Manessische Liederhandschrift fol. 124r. (E.
