Zeska, Karl© Copyright Karl Zeska, photo around 1900 Zeska, Karl, b. Hamburg (Germany), Oct. 31, 1862, d. Hamburg (Germany), July 18, 1938, Court Actor, director, dramatist; father of Philipp Zeska. Was to become a merchant, but opted for acting and in 1879 had his début at the Hamburg Konkordiatheater without ever having had any drama lessons. Later became a member of touring companies and of several German theatres. Worked at the Prague Deutsches Theater from 1886, at the Vienna Burgtheater from 1892 to 1932 (honorary member). Versatile actor; numerous decorations. Works: Auf dem Garnisonball, 1888; Pschütt, 1889. - Comedies.
