Zernik, ClementineZernik, Clementine, b. Vienna, Sept. 28, 1905, d. New York (USA), Dec. 31, 1996, law graduate, librarian. 1936 became one of the first female defence lawyers in Vienna. 1938 emigrated to New York, where she graduated from the Teacher´s College of Columbia University in 1941. 1940-1943 secretary-general of "Austrian Action", an organisation offering material and legal support to emigrants; 1943-1945 journalist for American and British radio stations. 1948-1975 librarian at the UN Library in New York and member and later president of the Austrian-American Federation.
