Vienna, Jan. 1, 1920, engineer, built the first Austrian mainframe computer based on a transistor (called "Mailüfterl") from 1955 to 1958, worked with IBM from 1961, was an IBM fellow and director of the IBM-laboratory in Vienna from 1976 to 1985. Has lectured at Vienna University of Technology since 1964. Developed the "Vienna Definition Language" for computers. Publications: About 350 scientific essays.
