Vienna, September 11, 2007, jazz musician, composer. In 1952, as a pianist with his own trio, began to play in clubs of the American occupation forces. Emigrated to the USA in 1959; in the same year achieved a breakthrough as the keyboard player of Cannonball Adderley; his compositions from this period (e.g. "Mercy, Mercy") became world-famous. 1970-1985 internationally successful with his group "Weather Report"; 1987 established the group "Weather Update". Collaborated with stars such as Miles Davis, F. Gulda, etc.; numerous awards (e.g. H. Koller Prize 2000).
