Wolter, Charlotte, b. Cologne (Germany), March 1, 1834, d. Vienna, June 14, 1897, actress at the court theatre (Hofschauspielerin). Member of the troupe of the Vienna Burgtheater company from 1862-1897; specialised in the role of heroine, great tragedienne, famous for her "Wolter cry" (vocal outbursts) and dramatic death scenes. S. H. von Mosenthal, J. Weil and A. von Wilbrandt wrote dramas for her.
