Wolf, Sándor© Copyright Sándor Wolf, photo, around 1935 Wolf, Sándor, b. Eisenstadt (Burgenland), Nov. 21, 1871, d. Haifa (Israel), Jan. 2, 1946, wine wholesaler, art collector and researcher. Started collecting art around 1900 (archaeology, art, arts and crafts, and Judaica) which he made accessible to the public in a private museum at Eisenstadt. Promoted the preservation of monuments in his capacity as honorary curator of the national office for the preservation of monuments. After the seizure and the expropriation of his collection by the nazis, emigrated to Palestine in 1938.
