Wochinz, HerbertWochinz, Herbert, b. Villach, Nov. 15, 1925, director and managing director. Studied in Paris from 1950-1955 (where he met M. Marceau, S. Beckett, E. Ionesco, J. Cocteau, J. Genet); 1956 actor and director at the Vienna Theater der Courage; founded the Vienna Theater am Fleischmarkt in 1958 (premières of French avant-garde plays); scenery created by different stage designers, for example W. Hutter, J. Mikl and W. Bertoni). Founded and ran the theatre "Komödienspiele Porcia" at Spittal an der Drau in 1961, which performs well-known comedies from Austria and abroad. Managing director at the Klagenfurt Stadttheater from 1968-1992, which he made very popular in Carinthia through its vast repertoire (ranging from classical to modern plays). Literature: F.
