Witzmann, CarlWitzmann, Carl, b. Vienna, Sept. 26, 1883, d. Vienna, Aug. 30, 1952, architect. After his apprenticeship with a cabinet-maker, attended the Vienna School of Arts and Crafts (precursor of the Vienna College of Arts). Disciple of J. Hoffmann, for whom he worked at the "Wiener Werkstätte" (artists' co-operative). Lectured at the School of Arts and Crafts from1908; Professor of furniture design from 1910. Worked as an architect, interior designer and exhibition organiser. Works: Interior of Igler apartment, 1907; apartment buildings in Vienna; alterations of the Vienna Theater in der Josefstadt, 1923-1924; Apollo cinema, 1929; reception rooms of the Vienna town hall, 1930; Scala Wien, 1931; Moulin Rouge, Wien, 1931; Café Fenstergucker, 1932.
