Wirtschaftsförderungsinstitut Österreich, WIFIWirtschaftsförderungsinstitut Österreich, WIFI, institution of adult education run by the Wirtschaftskammer Österreich (Austrian Economic Chamber). It caters for 24,000 classes, courses and seminars annually (2000: 300,000 participants). Main fields of training include personal development, foreign languages, management and consulting, business administration, law and computer science. Nine provincial institutes and WIFI Österreich also offer about 22,000 workshops, groups that provide exchange of experience and counselling within the framework of 70 nationwide projects in different fields and problem-oriented focus programmes. The WIFI closely cooperates with ministries, universities and foreign institutions. It also organises approx. 350 events per year in other countries, especially Eastern Europe, the Mediterranean area and Central Asia, to facilitate knowledge transfer and to promote exports.
