Wiener, HugoWiener, Hugo, b. Vienna, Feb. 16, 1904, d. Vienna, May 14, 1993, composer, revue artiste, writer. studied music, then acted at various theatres in Vienna; wrote all the satirical cabaret texts performed at the theatre "Femina"; in exile in Columbia from 1937-1945; after his return to Vienna worked at the "Simpl" revue theatre. Wrote the well-known ironic dialogues for the actors K. Farkas and E. Waldbrunn; wrote numerous chansons for his wife C. Kraner (e.g. "Ich wünsch´ mir zum Geburtstag einen Vorderzahn", "Der Nowak läßt mich nicht verkommen"); composed film soundtracks, wrote libretti for operettas and musical comedies, and satirical plays; numerous publications.
