Wibmer-Pedit, Fanny (Fanny Wibmer, née Pedit), b. Innsbruck (Tyrol), Feb. 19, 1890, d. Lienz (Tyrol), Oct. 27, 1967, writer. While working on her parents farm, she observed peasant life in the Tyrolean mountains; lived in Vienna from 1912-1935. Started to write at the age of 38 and wrote widely known historical novels ("Eine Frau trägt die Krone", 1937; "Die Welserin", 1940; "Graf und Herzog", 1954; "Magarete Maultasch", 1969); also catholic-conservative and sometimes mythologising novels on rural life ("Heimkehr zur Scholle", 1938).


Further works: Novels, narratives, legends, books for young people, religious amateur plays, folk plays.
